June 6, 2008 The 2008 Moss Alumni Reunion will go down as one of the best! There were 117 people who stayed for the great meal in addition to the many who just came to visit. I would imagine we had over 130 who attended over all. It was great to have a number of people attend who have not been to the reunion ever and those who haven't attended in a while. The class of '58 was well attended with at least 18 of their class present. Next year we will highlight the class of 1959. One highlight of the Reunion was to have Moss Superintendent John Long and his wife Dawnette in attendance along with their two boys. Superintendent Long spoke briefly of his first year at Moss and his goals of establishing and maintaining a quality education for the students of Moss School. He and his family were warmly received by the Alumni body and they easily have become a part of the Moss Alumni family. I wish him many years of success at Moss. Scholarship winners this year are Kendra Blaylock, Chelsea Lowe & Laci Thomas. Kendra & Chelsea were in attendance to receive their scholarships in person. We were able to give three scholarships this year instead of the regular two. This was due in part to the generosity of Jackie Head (1951 Alumni) and his wife Linda. They provided the 3rd. scholarship. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Scholarship fund. 2008 Alumni Photos will be posted soon on this web site. Our next Alumni Reunion will be next May 23, 2009. Start making your plans to attend now! Thanks to the generosity of the Alumni in attendance for the $436.00 that was given in support of two more mailings in the form of a Alumni Newsletter. The first Newsletter should be mailed later this summer with a July deadline. If you are not on the Alumni Mailing list please e-mail your mailing list to jerrysummy@charter.net . The second mailing will come out in Jan/Feb 2009. And of course the Registration mailing will come out in April 2009. I have enjoyed serving as your President the past three years and I really appreciate the work of Secretary/Treasurer: Sharon (Stringfellow) Nolen, Vice President: Joan (Taylor) Butler & our Scholarship Committee: Eulene (Noblett) Teakell.
